I really think after everything the characters of this story went through, the story ended perfectly. For people who say that there is not character development in this series, Edward, Alphonse, and Winry are more mature in 'Conqueror of Shamballa' then in the last chapter of the manga and the last episode of Brotherhood. Plus you see Roy's 'Post Traumatic Stress' get worse over the episodes. From him not being able to 'End' Edward in the Series, to the Attempt of Suicide after killing Winry's Parents, and finally Failing Hughes, Salem, and Edward, causing them all there lives.
